About Us

Mi Vela was created during the Covid-19 pandemic. Mid-summer 2020, Nathan comes up with the idea to start a small candle business. Knowing how much I love candles, Nathan thought it would be a great way to continue our strong relationship and keep ourselves occupied, all the while making items I genuinely enjoy. We both played around with the idea and decided to roll with it.

We thought it would be a good idea to begin our business making seasonal candles, starting with my favorite season, Fall. Nathan and I had so much fun and spent weeks testing and conducting many burn tests. We took our time experimenting with wax, different wicks, color dye, and fragrances until we were satisfied with our candles. After tossing a few names back and forth, we finally found one we both loved, Mi Vela. Mi Vela translates to "My Candle" in Spanish, and we indeed want to make these your candles.

So why shop Mi Vela? We use all-natural soy wax grown from American soybeans and cotton wicks that are lead and zinc free. Our scents are infused with natural essential oils and are free from carcinogens, reproductive toxins, and other potentially hazardous chemicals that are often found in fragrances. Mi Vela is a small candle business based in Providence, Rhode Island, that spends a lot of time and effort mixing the wax, color dye, and fragrance. All of our candles are homemade, which means we put a lot of love and careful attention into hand pouring each one. Please be advised that we try our best to limit imperfections but we are only human. If by any chance you receive an imperfect candle, embrace its beauty. Our goal is to provide happiness and relaxation to our customers through our all-natural soy scented candles, We really hope you enjoy your candle as much as we enjoy making them.
